A RAY OF LIGHT
USS Indianapolis
“Are you certain?! They’re not baiting us are they?” The second officer of the Indianapolis still couldn’t believe what the scouts were reporting. ‘We can’t be this lucky’ he thought.

The bridge doors opened and the captain walked confidently onto the bridge. “Report!”

“The Laxton confirms she tracking 35 Klingon freighters, sir.” The First Officer arrived at just that moment and quickly strode over to the tactical station.

The Communication officer chimed in. “The Tonti reports only three cruisers, sir. But they can’t confirm the type.”

“They’d have to move in closer to get details – it’d give our position away,” the Frist Officer pointed out, now standing close to the captain.

“We’re not going to miss this chance. Have the rest of the squadron close ranks. We could use a ray of hope.” Both the captain and first officer grinned at each other.

 

GAME SET-UP

Lay out three Star Trek Combat Simulator map-sheets in the configuration shown. This represents the area of space where the conflict takes place. Use the Graduate Starship Tactics Course rules in this scenario.

Defender
The Defending force consists of:

3 D-4 A Class VII Cruisers (IKS Doomslayer, IKS Frightful, IKS Hostility)
35 G-4 A Class II Freighter

Deployment
The Defending force deploys along the right most map in any configuration.

Attacker
The Attacking force consists of:

1 Apache II Mk I Class X Heavy Destroyer (USS Conestoga)
1 Baton Rouge Mk III Class X Cruiser (USS Indianapolis)
2 Hale Mk I Class II Scouts (USS Grubman, USS Laxton)
1 Hermes Mk I Class VII Scout (USS Tonti)
1 Loknar Mk I Class VIII Fast Frigate (USS Peking)

Deployment
The attacking force enter from the top or bottom of the center map.

Victory Conditions:
Victory is determined by the total number of victory points at the conclusion of The Four Years War campaign. View the Victory Point Table to determine the total points awarded.

SPECIAL RULES:

Escape:
Any freighters that exits the map along the far left edge has escaped and are worth no points. Klingon forces may not leave the map in any other direction.

Ending:
The scenario ends on turn 12 due to the arrival of Klingon reinforcements.
