Known Sphere Of Operation:  AOFW and Triangle
Data Reliability:  A
Major Data Source:  Triangle Sector Intelligence

The MacKenzie class was one of the largest group of warships in the Mutual Defense Force of The Affiliation of Outer Free Worlds located in the Triangle. Constructed at the extensive Naval Yards located in orbit around the planet of New New Aberdeen, the class was largely crewed by personnel of that world, giving these ships a definite Gaelic slant.

The Mackenzie class was loosely based on the Baker class destroyer of the Federation’s Star Fleet, but were more powerful. Most of their components were constructed on planets of The Affiliation of Outer Free Worlds under license from the UFP. Normally, ships of this size and expense are of proven Star Fleet design, but the engineers of New New Aberdeen wanted to prove that they could indeed design a class totally by themselves. This they have done, and with great success.

The MacKenzie class frigate is was an efficient and well-planned design. Her eight FH-12 phasers were placed on the various quadrant of the ships saucer, giving an all round field of fire. Two FP-1 photon torpedo tubes offered a punch from both forward and aft. Her superstructure had been reinforced and state of the art deflectors were installed. These unique ships Scottish names and offensive weaponry gave a new meaning to the phrase “Big Mac Attack”.

These frigates remained in operation service well into the 2320’s with the MacKenzie herself being the last vessel to be retired in 2331. These vessels are in reserve status at New New Aberdeen with the MacKenzie and Highlander popular tourist destination.
