Design Notes: As can be seen when comparing our version with the original design by Brad R. Torgersen, you’ll notice some pretty big differences. And yet I HOPE we were able to capture the spirit of his design. Brad starts his design as a class XIII, while we back it off to a Class XI. We use the same FWG-2 for a bit of consistency, as it’s a damn good warp drive and can get us to a titanic Class XX if need be. Why is that significant? Because if you take the Laweya’s ship weight at ~140,000-160,000 mt, the FWG-2 can move a whopping 700,000 mt. The Difference of 500,000 mt means this guy can (technically) move up to 10,000 SCU. Each pod would be up to 2,500 SCU. A pretty decent amount!
We haven’t finalized a real system for cargo pods – large or small – as it’s less relevant to gameplay than the overall maneuverability of a fully loaded cargo vessel. In future we hope to create a workable system for cargo containers that brings something to the table…but for now – they’re really are just cannon fodder. Hopefully Brad approves of our borrowing his amazing design.
