Notes:
The Atherton was first introduced in 2239 and would go on to be one of the more successful escort vessel utilized by Star Fleet during the Four-Years War. The class would go on to serve through the 2260 and into the 2270 and was eventually retired in the mid-2280. Of the 550 Athertons commissioned, 32 Mk Is, 20 Mk IIs, 30 Mk IVs and 20 Mk Vs are in reserve fleets. 30 each of the Mk I and Mk II variant were converted to Mk IIIs. 10 Mk IIIs were converted to Mk IV and 34 Mk IVs were eventually converted to Mk Vs. 9 Mk Is, 22 Mk IIs, 17 Mk IIIs 9 Mk IVs and 5 Mk Vs have been destroyed. 3 Mk Is and 3 Mk IIs were captured by Klingon forces during the Four-Years War. 2 Mk IIIs were captured by unknown forces in the Triangle and 1 Mk IV was captured by IKS forces in the Triangle. 3 Mk Is, 6 Mk IIs, 1 Mk III, 2 Mk IVs and 1 Mk V are all listed as missing. 8 Mk Is, 2 Mk IIs, 3 Mk IIIs, 5 Mk IVs and 1 Mk V have been scrapped. The Atherton class proved popular with a wide range of individuals and companies. 70 Mk Is, 70 Mk IIs 144 Mk IIIs and 50 Mk Vs were all disarmed and sold to various entities both inside and outside the Federation.
