Major Data Source:  Triangle Sector Intelligence

As part of their promised support for the Chan faction of the Mantiev Civil War, the Klingon Empire supplied the rebels with a generous amount of military aid in exchange for promises of future favorable trade terms. Part of that support included the sale of three serviceable D-16 destroyers.

The three ships were stripped of their warp engines, weapons and other components to prevent the Federation or Romulans from claiming the Empire was pushing into the MCA. All three ships were delivered to neutral Orion shipyards and immediate refit (with Klingon funds) for service in the increasingly militant civil war.

All three ships retained the Klingon computer system, something that was readily available on the open market. The Liberty retained her Klingon KIB impulse drive, a system also readily available on the open market, while here sister ships Justice and Freedom installed OIC-2 impulse systems. The planetary governor, Jonas Elley, use a portion of his amassed fortune to purchase the OWD-3 drive for the Freedom, making it the most powerful of the three ships.

Using Klingon funds and excellent negotiating skills, Elley also negotiated a wide range of weapon systems for the Liberty class as well as other ships purchased by the MCA rebels. All three ships were quickly thrown into the fray and remained operations even after the secession of hostilities. Despite a significant number of battles, as well as engagements with foreign forces and numerous pirates within the region, these three ships have become legends in the MCA and are now assigned to the Manteiv Colonial Navy.
