PRELUDE TO AXANAR

IT BEGINS:
Captains Log – USS Xenophon
“I’ve been hoping against hope that the Gulliver is simply out of communications for some mundane reason. But I can’t ignore it any longer. A Klingon cruiser this deep in Federation space can only mean one thing – invasion.”

Garth swallowed hard. The entire bridge crew listened, guessing what his report would say.

“On my own initiative, I have decided to engage the Klingon cruiser in the hopes of forcing its surrender and discovering it’s intentions.” Even as he continued his log entry, the crew of the Xenophon were already preparing for battle.

“If the vessel does not surrender, I can only assume that it is headed for Axanar to link up with other enemy forces. Once battle has been joined – we will transmit our findings and this log to Star Fleet in the hopes of preventing a full scale war. But with the intelligence reports I’ve see…” Garth let his voice drift off. Every captain along the frontier knew the Klingons were coming. It was simply a matter of when.

Garth turned to his communication officer – now the most important member of his crew. “The minute we challenge that ship – transmit that entry and log. We won’t get another chance.” The handsome communication officer just grinned at his captain. “I’ll make sure Star Fleet get it, sir.” Garth grinned back. They both knew what was at stake.

“Open hailing frequencies! Move us into weapon range. God help us all.”

The Xenophon closed with it’s destiny.

 

GAME SET-UP

Lay out one Star Trek Combat Simulator map-sheet in the configuration shown. This represents the area of space where the conflict takes place. Use the Graduate Starship Tactics Course rules in this scenario.

Defender
The Defending force consists of:

1 D-4A Class VII Cruiser (IKV Predator)

Deployment
The Defending force deploys along the left edge of the map.

Attacker
The Attacking force consists of:

1 Marklin Mk I Class VI Destroyer (USS Xenophon)

Deployment
The attacking force enter from the right edge if the map.

Victory Conditions:
Victory is determined by the total number of victory points at the conclusion of The Four Years War campaign. View the Victory Point Table to determine the total points awarded.

Ending:
The scenario ends when one side or the other is destroyed.
