One of several vessels names for Legate Damar, the Leader of the Cardassian Liberation Front at the end of the Dominion War, the Damar (I) class is the largest and most capable multi-purpose vessel fielded by the Cardassians. Designed to fulfill multiple roles, including exploration, research and defense, they remain a testament to the Cardassian ability to thrive even during adversity.
The Damar (I) class is the single largest investment in the Cardassian space program to date, with production and commissioning of new ships still occurring infrequently. Of the 16 built, 1 has been scrapped.
