Less well-know than the iconic Wanderer class, the Cheetah is considered just as capable and had been a significant irritant to border patrol from multiple agencies. The ship is clearly influenced by various Klingon designs, suggesting that the Orions may have obtained detailed engineering specification of existing Klingon designs. These influences have made the primary hull stronger than is typically seen in most Orion designs. A highly efficient power system makes the Cheetah fast and maneuverable. Excellent firepower includes five disruptors and three independent torpedoes allows the design to engage escorted convoys with a notable modicum of success.
The Cheetah was exclusively produced by Orionco but has been sold to a wide range of clientele.
