COVENTRY ENGAGEMENT
STARDATE: 3203.2, 4 PARSECS FROM AYRIN, 1820 HRS FST

A SERIOUS MISTAKE
“…and you wonder why I hate the Admiral!” Qutegh continued to snarl even as the captain reassured him.

“Relax, we’ll disable these two and come back to finish them off,” said Captain Kasa. “The Admiral has planned for…”

“The Admiral is a fool!” shouted Qutegh. “Bypass targets of opportunity?! What kind or cowardice is -” Qutegh suddenly screamed as a disruptor bolt engulfed his body and he disintegrated.

Kasa smiled at the security officer who had fired the bolt. “That kind of talk can get you killed,” he said to the small whiff of smoke that was all that was left of Qutegh. The first officer had been trying to get them all killed for month now. Kasa was happy to be rid of him.

“Klarg, your now first officer,” announced the Captain. “And I don’t want to hear anything about the Admiral until we rendezvous with the rest of the fleet.”

“Yes, my Lord!” said Klarg nervously. He was always surprised by how suddenly promotions could happen in the Empire.
