Designers Notes
This fun little gem from StarDate Magazine in ’85 did have a few minor differences from the original. Built before the publishing of the 2nd Edition Construction Manual, the only real issue was the impulse drive. As published, the Silverstrike had an FIB-2, but this was later retconned and the 1/1 MRP didn’t support the FIB-2. Since these ships really aren’t going to take on major Klingon or Romulan warships, we went ahead and used the FIC-1 on all the various models. The various models were also added to try and flesh out the story behind the “Motherload” – the specific ‘Silverstrike’ class printed in the magazine. The text written by Dale seems to indicate that there are a WIDE number of variants for this ship, so we fleshed out 22 versions.
