ARIANNUS ENGAGEMENT

Captains Log:
Stardate 3198.3

We have rendezvoused with the Buckholtz after receiving telemetry from sensor probes in the neutral zone that several Klingon ships have broken the treaty and crossed the border.

Although this seems to have become an almost monthly occurrence, somehow this feels different. While the reading were sporadic, this didn’t appear to be just a scouting mission or even a single cruiser out on a fact-finding mission. Sensor indicated five vessels of varying size, including several cruisers. I suspect that there will be a significant number of intrusions over the next few days.

We remain in a relatively advantageous position less than two parsecs from Ariannus. But if this is the beginning of a major move by the Empire, I’m afraid the local support will be in a tight spot if this is indeed a major move by the Klingons.

On a personal note, I have a bad feeling that I won’t be able to attend Anjea’s Ha’mara. There may be no more holidays for us if this gets out of hand.

 

GAME SET-UP

Lay out one Star Trek Combat Simulator map-sheets in the configuration shown. This represents the area of space where the conflict takes place. Use the Graduate Starship Tactics Course rules in this scenario.

Defender
The Defending force consists of:

1 Maine Mk II Class IX Cruiser (USS Buckholtz)
1 Rosevelt Mk II Class XI Cruiser (USS Yokohama)

Deployment
The Defending force deploys along the left side of the map.

Attacker
The Attacking force consists of:

1 D-19A Class VIII Cruiser (IKV Vengeful Retaliator)
2 D-7A Class VIII Cruiser (IKV Rampager, IKV Skullsplitter)
2 K-23B Class VII Escort (IKV Bearer Of Judgment, IKV Conformer)

Deployment
The attacking force enter from the right edge if the map.

Victory Conditions:
Victory is determined by the point value of any vessel destroyed during the battle. Any vessel that leave the map before turn 12 is worth 1/2 it’s victory points.
