A total of 182 D-19s were built before orders for the vessel were cancelled after the Praxis disaster. 2 As, 1 B and 2 Cs are listed as missing. 6 As, 7 Bs and 4 Cs have been destroyed. 2 As, 1 B and 2 Cs have been scrapped. 3 As and 1 B have been captured (2 As and 1 B by Star Fleet, 1 A by the Romulans). 5 As, 20 Bs and 40 Cs have been sold. 30 Bs were traded to the Roulans. 35 As, 10 Bs and 40 Cs are in reserve fleets. 3 As, 4 Bs and 15 Cs have been sold to Ranking Families in the Empire. 15 As were converted to B models, with another 15 Bs converted to C models.

The D-19 was produced at Taamar and H’renn with a peak production rate of 8. The class is named for the Klingon “baS qIj tel” which translate to massive wing and believed to have been designed by the same individual who produced the D-11.
