The Shannon<\/em> was one of the first AOFW ships to be upgraded by the newly formed New New Aberdeen shipyards following her “purchase” from the Federation. Refit with numerous subsystems from across the Federation, her main warp drive was replaced with the more efficient FWC warp drive. Easier to manufacture and install, the FWC gave the MacIlvrae<\/em> excellent overall power reserves and front line capability, which was sorely needed during the Four Years War. Subcontracted Andorian main weapons also proved quicker and easier to build than other systems and were soon installed. The MacIlvrae<\/em> would go on to conduct multiple combat sorties and prove essential in helping defend both the AOFW and the Federation.<\/p>\n

In 2269, the vessel was upgraded with numerous Federation components, all manufactured under contract. The MacIlvrae<\/em> also operated with Federation scouts during multiple routine patrols throughout the Triangle. In mid-2301, the MacIlvrae<\/em> repsonded to a distress call from a Klingon freighter. Uppon arrival, the MacIlvrae<\/em> found the freighter under attack by a large force of Orion pirates vessels. The MacIlvrae<\/em> eventually drove the pirates off, but was severely damaged in the process. With a number of other vessels under construction as New New Aberdeen, the decision to scrap the MacIlvrae<\/em> was made.
