\nOne of the largest exploration vessels fielded by the Cardassians, the Exar<\/em> was intended to be a major combat platform when envisioned during the Dominion War. The conclusion of that conflict and significant losses for the Cardassian fleet forced designers to pivot and re-engineer the Exar as an explorer.<\/p>\n

The Exar<\/em> class is a major undertaking for the Cardassians, with only 28 completed to date. The vessel\u2019s size and capabilities have made it a successful frontier vessel,allowing the exploration and mapping of uninhabited star systems and phenomenon across the Cardassian frontier.<\/p>\n

To date, 1 Exar<\/em> Type-3 has been destroyed and 1 Type-1 has been scrapped. All three variants are still in production, although at reduced rates.
