\nDesigned to continually bombard fixed ground based or orbital positions, the Darhe\u2019el<\/em> class was never a popular class with Cardassian commanders who preferred beam weapons over missiles. The Darhe\u2019el<\/em> military record was undeniable, though, with multiple victories attributed to its unique combat style.<\/p>\n

The Darhe\u2019el<\/em> has served in almost every Cardassian conflicts since its inception, and became a favorite target of the Klingons during the Klingon-Cardassian conflict of 2372. While the Darhe\u2019el<\/em> class saw significant losses during that conflict, and the later Dominion War, its record remains impressive despite this.<\/p>\n

The Darhe\u2019el<\/em> class is now relegated to less combat-oriented missions as the Cardassians continue to avoid major conflicts. Of the 91 Built, 18 Type-2s are currently in service, with 27 in reserve fleets. 2 Type-1s and 19 Type-2s have been destroyed. 3 Type-2s were captured and 1 is listed as missing. 1 Type-1 and 20 Type-2s have been scrapped.
