\nUSS Haverty<\/strong>
\n“That folks, is what they named the Archon after…” Captain Vasser and the entire bridge crew watch in awe as the massive gas giant Archon XIII came into view.<\/p>\n

“That’s incredible!” commented Ensign Yasz. The environmental officer was clearly star struck, as was nearly everyone on the bridge. “It looks like something out of a painting!”<\/p>\n

Vasser smiled. While it wasn’t unheard of for a planet to have two sets of rings, one vertical and one horizontal to the planets equator was<\/em> rare. Vasser had never even heard of such a thing. “Willie? Did you read up on this?” he asked the second shift science officer.<\/p>\n

“Yes sir,” Willie replied with pride. “Boss had us all read up on it once she knew we were gonna be stationed out here. You know her – ‘information can be salvation!'” The chief science officer had often used that phase during staff meetings. <\/p>\n

“Sir – message from the Sperger. They’ve detected three unknown vessels headed towards Archon V. Estimated arrival time…23 minutes.” <\/p>\n

“You think…?” The bridge engineer officer asked, hoping for a bit a good news.<\/p>\n

“Who else?” commented Vasser. He knew who it was, and what they were after. The news stifled the atmosphere on the bridge of the scout. Everyone knew there would only be one reason for the Klingons to be heading in-system. And it wasn’t to sightsee. <\/p>\n

“Red Alert! Tell the Sperger we’re on the way.” Captain Vasser sat down heavily in his chair. He had hoped that the deployment would keep him out of the upcoming conflict. Now it seemed he was about to be thrown into it. “And inform Star Fleet Command. Let them know Archon is one of the targeted systems.”<\/td>\n

Lay out two Star Trek Combat Simulator map-sheets in the configuration shown. This represents the area of space where the conflict takes place. Use the Graduate Starship Tactics Course rules in this scenario.<\/p>\n

\nThe Defending force of cutters deploys along the bottom of the left side of the map. The Defending scout deploys along the top of the left side of the map.<\/p>\n

\nThe Attacking force consists of:<\/p>\n
