\nRETHINKING<\/strong><\/font>
\nKurand looked up from the planning table to see K\u2019tek staring through the battleship\u2019s portal at the stars beyond. He was a realist, as much as his commander. The numbers didn\u2019t lie. The lines on the map hadn\u2019t moved. And in all truth, Kurand knew that they wouldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no way to secure ANY of these worlds! Not with our remaining forces. We\u2019d have to transfer nearly 150 ships from the Romulan boarder\u2026or twice that many from the Kinshaya frontier.\u201d Kurand shook his head in frustration, anger starting to build. Yet K\u2019tek simply laughed mildly.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, old friend. We haven\u2019t had that opportunity for some time now,\u201d commented K\u2019tek, never turning from the stars outside. \u201cReinforcements were already sent. This campaign was lost over a month ago.\u201d Finally, K\u2019tek turned from the window with a sly smile across his face.<\/p>\n

Kurand stared at his friend in puzzlement and wonder. \u201cWhy? All glory aside, what\u2019s the point? Only a fool fights in a burning house\u2026wait\u2026you\u2019re thinking of a second campaign!\u201d Now it was Kurand\u2019s turn to smile.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if we lose the remainder of our ships, we can rebuild and re-man the boarder in less than a year. It will take the Federation three times that long to replace their losses.\u201d K\u2019tek began to nod as Kurand\u2019s eyes grew wide with understanding. \u201cYes\u2026even if you and I die in glorious battle today, we\u2019ve still won a victory for the Empire! The perfect campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo every enemy ship we destroy\u2026brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Remind me never to try and kill you. I don\u2019t think I\u2019d live long enough to enjoy your seat.\u201d Kurand\u2019s smile became as friendly as a Klingon smile gets.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, old friend\u2026you wouldn\u2019t!\u201d K\u2019tek and Kurand roared with laughter. The bridge interrupted their friendly moment.<\/p>\n

“Admiral! The resupply operation. They report they are under attack!”<\/p>\n

“Look like we may lose some of those ships sooner than I anticipated,” mused K\u2019tek.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

GAME SET-UP<\/h3>\n

Lay out one Star Trek Combat Simulator map-sheet in the configuration shown. This represents the area of space where the conflict takes place. Use the Graduate Starship Tactics Course rules in this scenario.<\/p>\n

Defender<\/strong>
\nThe Defending force consists of:<\/p>\n

\n3 K-24E<\/em><\/strong> Class VII Escorts<\/a> (Carnivorous Reviler, Ruthless Impoverisher, Unredeemable Avenger<\/em>)
\n1 L-9F<\/em><\/strong> Class X Frigate<\/a> (Abdicator’s Blade<\/em>)
\n1 S-5A<\/em><\/strong> Class VII Repair Tender<\/a> (Blade Sharpener<\/em>)
\n1 G-3B<\/em><\/strong> Class VII Freighter<\/a> (Dawngazer<\/em>)
\n1 G-5A<\/em><\/strong> Class VIII Transport<\/a> (Warriors Scabbard<\/em>)
\n6 Supply<\/em><\/strong> Cargo Containers<\/a> (Blade Sharpener<\/em>)\n<\/p>\n

Reinforcements<\/strong>
\nOn turn 5, the defender receives the following reinforcements.<\/p>\n

\n1 L-9A<\/em><\/strong> Class X Frigate<\/a> (Bringer of Agony<\/em>)\n<\/p>\n

Deployment<\/strong>
\nThe Defending force deploys along the center of the map. All cargo ships and cargo containers must be within 1 hex of each other. Reinforcements enter from the right edge of the map.<\/p>\n

Attacker<\/strong>
\nThe Attacking force consists of:<\/p>\n

\n1 Charger<\/em> Mk I<\/strong> Class VIII Destroyer<\/a> (USS Firefox<\/em>)
\n1 Frankfurt<\/em> Mk III<\/strong> Class X Heavy Destroyer<\/a> (USS Braunschweig<\/em>)
\n1 Swiften<\/em> Mk III<\/strong> Class IX Fast Destroyer<\/a> (USS Huston<\/em>)\n<\/p>\n

Deployment<\/strong>
\nThe attacking force enter from the left edge of the map.<\/p>\n

Victory Conditions:<\/strong>
\nVictory is determined by the number of cargo containers destroyed. For each container destroyed, award 1 victory point. For each freighter destroyed, award 2 victory points. For each Federation ship destroyed, award 3 victory points. <\/p>\n

SPECIAL RULES:<\/h4>\n

Escape:<\/strong>
\nEither side may try to escape by moving off the left or right side of the map. Once a ship have moved off the field of battle, it may not return. The G-5 must spend 1 full turn with it’s shield down to hook up a single cargo container. Once attached, the G-5 may attempt to attach a second container or try and escape.<\/p>\n

Resupply:<\/strong>
\nThe L-9F (Abdicator’s Blade<\/em>) is powered down and being resupplied. It may raise shields but can not arm weapons or move during Turn 1. At the beginning of Turn 2, the ship may allocate power but may not move or fire during phase 1. The ship will be fully powered and operational by by the end of Turn 2. <\/p>\n

Ending:<\/strong>
\nThe scenario ends on turn 12 due to the arrival of Federation reinforcements.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
