NOTES:
Owner:  Vorath tai Darax (Imperial Klingon Male)
Port of Registry:  Kinkuthanza, Klingon space
Trading Locations:  Klingon border from K-7 to Kinkuthanza; Klinzhai home sector; Motherlode in the Arturan system; The AOFW

Unusually, this vessel, a Federation design, is owned by a Klingon. Believed to be one of the Tavares class that were sold to the private sector, it has been legally purchased from its previous owner, who essentially should never have entered the merchant business, and was about to become bankrupt. Voreth, a successful trader in the Kinkuthanza system visiting Motherlode, heard of the impending foreclosure, and agreed with the creditors to take on the vessel.

Traders not used to seeing Klingons in the Triangle, let alone Imperial Klingons, are always taken aback when he first appears. Lay persons always make the (false) assumption that all Klingons belong in the military. While all Klingons TEST for the military, not everyone is necessarily accepted. Voreth, after choosing not to enter the military, struck out on his own, and entered the mercantile sector!

But he is every bit as boisterous as his military brethren. He considered himself an ‘economic warrior’ in this period of cold war tensions between the Federation and the Empire. The Triangle is just another arena for his people to gain supremacy in. He has been heard to say “so, what if it’s an Earther vessel? It was for sale, I took advantage of the slime worm that couldn’t operate it, and now I help expand the glory of the Empire!” He has kept on the crew, who have found him to be a hard but fair task master.

Within six months, the vessel was trading at a nominal profit. And within three years he has used his contacts in the Empire to arm his vessel to give him every advantage. After all, the Navy will protect and expand the Empire, but some must see that the soldiers eat while doing so. The rest of the Empire must also be fed. If they cannot conquer at this time, they will be the strongest in trade. And strength can come from firepower, even on a freighter, hence his modifications to his standard Tavares hull. Hell met the raider that crosses the K’t’chep!

And of course, any information gained that is of interest to the military in the region is duly passed back to the Klingon High Command. It is for his great success in trading information in this regard that he has gained his ‘tai’ honorific, one normally reserved for those of military rank. A great honor indeed!

The vessels name, K’t’chep, translates to Bringer of Profit.
