BH-3

design by Morgan Donivan

NOTES:
Known Sphere Of Operation: Hegemony-wide use
Data Reliability: D for all models
Major Data Source: Gorn Sector Intelligence

The BH-3 appears to be an attempt at a multi-clan design intended to outperform the powerful BH-2 design. The design shows influence from several major clan design groups but does not appear to be overly popular with any single clan. Amazingly, the design appears to be in response to Tholian activity rather than the increased Romulan threat.

The BH-3A achieved its initial goal of producing a more dangrous vessel when compared to other frontline battleships. The A model was maneuverable (for a Gorn vessel) and well protected. It ten disruptors and six torpedo tubes gave it tremendous firepower when needed. However, the vessel was underpowered when compared to other Gorn vessels of the time. It’s moderate troop compliment also reduced internal comfort for troops and crew alike, making it a less popular assignment.

The BH-3B was an attempt to improve the BH-3 design, but was received with mixed reviews. With a very minimal powerplant increase, the BH-3B did replace the powerful GBL-6 disruptors with the longer ranged GBL-8s. An improved computer is also believed to be installed. The B model did not address the cramped quarters and underwhelming sensor systems of the BH-3.

Currently, 8 Es are in active service, with 1 in the reserve fleet. 1 A and 1 C have been destroyed. 2 Bs and 1 C have been scrapped. The Hegenomony Fleet Naval Yard 2 at Ugh’Sh is the only known location where the BH-3 is produced.
