Of the 180 D-28As built, 6 are listed as missing, 31 have been destroyed, 24 have been scrapped, 14 have been captured (7 by Star Fleet, 4 by the Romulans, 1 by the Orions, and 2 by the Suliban). 40 have been sold (20 to various forces in the Triangle, 10 to the Orions and 10 to the Nausiccans), 25 were traded to the Romulans and 10 are in the service of ranking families of the Empire. 30 were converted to D-28B models.
2 D-28B are listed as missing, 29 are listed as destroyed. 9 have been scrapped and 7 are listed as captured (4 by the Romulans, 2 by Star Fleet and 1 by interests in the Triangle). 40 D-28Bs were sold (30 to the Naussicans and 10 to the the Ferengi). 7 were traded to the Asparaxians and 7 are in service to ranking families in the Empire. 157 were converted to C models.
The D-28C was the last production model, with the last hull lunched at the end of 2270. Of the 265 D-28Cs fielded, 3 are listed as missing, 16 have been destroyed, 11 have been scrapped, 6 are used as museum training ships, 5 have been captured (3 by the Romulans, 1 by Star Fleet and 1 by the Andorians), 10 were sold to the Orions, 45 have been traded to the Romulans and 19 are in service to ranking families in the Empire. 150 were converted to D-28Ds.
7 D-28Ds have been destroyed, 3 have been scrapped and 1 was captured by the Romulans. A total of 139 were eventually converted to D-28E models.
The D-28E saw heavy losses during the resurgence of conflict with the Kinshaya. A total of 17 D-28Es were destroyed, 26 were scrapped, 4 have been captured (3 by the Romulans and 1 by the Suliban). 10 were traded to various governments to help purchase needed supplies after the destruction of Praxis. 81 remain in reserve fleets and 1 was used as the prototype for the D-128 Greater Death Bird class.
