HOLLENBECK ENGAGEMENT

ZERO HOUR:
USS Hollenbeck
“A little early for the Klingons to be starting trouble, don’t you think?” asked Captain Alder.

“Can’t disagree with you there, sir” replied the first officer of the Scali. Moments later the turbo lift doors opened and Captain th’Saria walked confidently onto the bridge of the research ship.

“Well don’t you look chipper this morning” commented Alder. The Andorian captain smiled sleepily. “As do you” he replied in his mild accent.

The smile vanished in an instant. “How bad?” th’Saria inquired.

“Three battlecrusiers. I’ve already called for support, but we’re on our own for a little while.”

“Is this part of that fleet that’s been massing across the border?” Even with his accent, Alder could tell th’Saria was frustrated. He was a soldier before he was an explorer. His research cruiser would be at a disadvantage in battle.

“We can’t be certain, but who else could it be? I guess it’s war.”

“I guess so” replied th’Saria.

“Lieutenant, open a channel and inform Star Base 22 that the Klingons have crossed the neutral zone. Add a note to Admiral Kristov that it’s zero hour.” Captain Alder looked sad as he issued the orders. Seconds later he straightened in his command chair. “BATTTLESTATIONS!” he commanded.

The sirens sounded. The war began.

 

GAME SET-UP

Lay out one Star Trek Combat Simulator map-sheets in the configuration shown. This represents the area of space where the conflict takes place. Use the Graduate Starship Tactics Course rules in this scenario.

Defender
The Defending force consists of:

1 Columbus Mk II Class X Cruiser (USS Hollenbeck)
1 Copernicus Mk II Class VI Scout (USS Scali)

Deployment
The Defending force deploys along the center of the map.

Attacker
The Attacking force consists of:

3 D-7A Class VIII Cruiser (IKV Banisher, IKV Battlescar, IKV Implicit, )

Deployment
The attacking force enter from the right edge of the map.

Victory Conditions:
The Attacker wins a major victory by destroying both Federation vessels and a minor victory by destroying only one. The Defender wins a major victory by destroying two or more Klingon vessels and a minor victory by only destroying one.

SPECIAL RULES:

Ending:
The scenario ends on turn 10 due to the arrival of Federation reinforcements.
